Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says the Trump administration will enforce the Alien Registration Act, requiring illegal immigrants to register with authorities or face criminal charges and possible deportation.
Appearing Tuesday on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Noem said she’ll be enforcing the initiatives established by the Alien Registration Act of 1940, which is in line with President Donald Trump’s executive order “Protecting The American People Against Invasion.”
“The Alien Registration Act says that within 30 days of being in this country illegally, someone must register with the federal government, and they will be fingerprinted,” Noem said.

“They must announce that they are here, and if they do so, they can avoid criminal charges and fines and we will help them relocate right back to their home country.”
“What this does is provide them an opportunity to come back someday, and to be a part of the American dream.”
“If they don’t register, they are breaking the federal law, which has always been in place. We are just going to start enforcing it to make sure that these aliens go back home, and when they want to be an American they can come and visit us again.”
The Homeland secretary went on to point illegals to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS.gov) website where a portal has already been setup for illegals to comply with registration requirements.
“These folks that are here in this country illegally can self-register. They can avoid the criminal charges. They can avoid the fines, and we will help them go home,” Noem said.
“And what that provides for them is a safer environment. It’s safer for our communities. It saves US taxpayer dollars and it allows them an opportunity to come back to this country and to be an American and to live the American dream, which is truly what our history is all about.”
“So yes, Jesse, this is not a new law, I’m just announcing that I’m going to enforce our law and we’re going to use this tool to make sure that we’re following our law to provide people an opportunity to go home and come back and be a part of our country’s future in the right way.”
Trump’s executive order last month tasked the DHS secretary with identifying unregistered illegal aliens.
