A lawyer for the family of BLM martyr George Floyd says Alex Jones’ Sandy Hook case set a precedent for his upcoming $250 million lawsuit against rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.
Speaking to CBS News Wednesday, attorney Nuru Witherspoon admitted Jones’ billion dollar verdict forms the foundation to claim Floyd’s family is entitled to a payout due to emotional distress caused by recent Ye comments.

Agreeing Jones’ case was a “trial balloon” for his own defamation case, Witherspoon explained, “I want everyone to really look at that Alex Jones case, because that case set a precedent.”
“Alex Jones, for those living under a rock, was sued and the jury issued a verdict for nearly $1 billion for his statements because they intentionally inflicted emotional distress on the victim. That’s the issue. His statements were false, they were defamatory, and they inflicted emotional distress.”
“So that case set a precedent,” Witherspoon continued, “that this harm, this injury for intentional infliction of emotional distress is worth nearly $1 billion.”
The attorney went on to claim his case differs slightly in that Ye and Blexit leader and documentary filmmaker Candace Owens profited from using George Floyd’s image, name and likeness.
The lawsuit against Ye stems from comments he made during a “Drink Champs” podcast in which he cited information from Owens’ documentary, “The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM.”

“I watched the George Floyd documentary that Candace Owens put out. One of the things that his two roommates said was they want a tall guy like me, and the day that he died, he said a prayer for eight minutes,” West told the podcast. “They hit him with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that.”
In a tweet Monday, Owens defended claims made in her documentary, saying an autopsy report indeed found Floyd had “fatal levels of fentanyl” in his system at the time of his death.

With lawyers already salivating over Jones’ billion dollar verdict, it’s only a matter of time before the same weaponized judicial system and perversion of free speech protections are used to go after other voices critical of the establishment.
