During an Arizona Chamber of Commerce forum on Wednesday, the state’s GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake slammed a mainstream media reporter who asked if she’d consider running as Donald Trump’s vice president in the 2024 election if he asked.

“If Trump were to tap you to be VP, is that something you would consider?” a journalist asked Lake.

The witty ex-news anchor quickly answered, “No. I don’t like Washington DC, I especially don’t like it now.”

She added, “It’s funny that question is asked, because for so long many in the media have been trying to act like I don’t have the skill to run for governor. Now, apparently I’m so skilled that you think I should run for VP.”

After another reporter asked Lake if she’d talked with President Trump about being his running mate, she explained she chats with him “all the time” but has never talked about that scenario.

“I am applying for the job of Arizona governor and I’m reaching out to the people every single day,” she told the press. “Where is Katie Hobbs right now? She should be standing right here, right here answering your questions. How often does she talk to you? If you’re MSNBC, maybe all the time, but if you want to ask her a pressing question, she cowers and she’s a coward.”

Arizona’s Democrat gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs has infamously chosen not to debate Kari Lake, a move even local media criticized.

“Katie, You can’t even sit in a chair next to @tedatpbs and face me, yet you expect the people of Arizona to think you’d stand toe to toe with the Cartels?” Lake asked her opponent last week.

Closing out her discussion with the press on Wednesday, Lake told them she’d not only be their governor for the next four years, but for the next eight.

“So, have fun and get used to it because we’re going places and we’re going to have the greatest state in the country,” she said.

Lake again chastised her Democrat opponent for refusing to debate while onstage during the chamber of commerce forum.

“We’ve got an empty chair up here. And every time you look at that empty chair, just think we should be filling that with my opponent,” she told the crowd.

Instead of debating Lake, Hobbs orchestrated a “separate thirty-minute town hall-style interview with Ted Simons, which could appear back-to-back in the same hour.”

Lake trolled Hobbs on Twitter, saying she was “watching her from the audience because she’s a coward.”

Lake also highlighted the way Hobbs rapidly fled the event following her speech while the GOP candidate actually talked with a large group of voters and media members.

If elected, Lake is poised to join Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as one of the leading America First politicians in the nation.
