White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took a blowtorch to The Washington Post on Tuesday, blasting the leftist outlet for telling readers there’s been a “mysterious” drop in fentanyl seizures while failing to credit the Trump administration’s border efforts.
On Saturday, WaPo published a headline titled, “The mysterious drop in fentanyl seizures on the U.S.-Mexico border.”
“How is this mysterious? There is no mystery about why there is a decrease in fentanyl coming into the United States!” Leavitt told reporters, adding, “This administration’s strong border policies are the reason there has been a decrease in fentanyl trafficking.”
“This is clearly trying to intentionally manipulate the minds of Americans, and I think the American people understand why there has been fentanyl drop,” Leavitt said, asking WaPo to correct the record.

Elsewhere in the briefing, Leavitt pushed back against NBC reporter Kelly O’Donnell, who claimed Trump and DOGE cuts had affected FEMA leaving America vulnerable amid hurricane season.
“FEMA is taking this seriously. Kristi Noem and the FEMA leadership are all over this,” Leavitt responded, going on to slam the legacy media for promoting fake news, saying, “Some of the media reporting we’ve seen has been sloppy and irresponsible.”

NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell tried to push the narrative that Trump’s workforce cuts would leave Americans vulnerable during disasters.
But Leavitt didn’t budge.

Asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy what President Trump thought about Elon Musk’s comments criticizing his “big beautiful bill” as a “pork-filled Congressional spending bill,” the press secretary said the president stood behind the bill.
The press secretary also confirmed the Department of Justice is investigating the Biden autopen scandal.
