A female audience member was applauded at a BBC taping after giving a biologically male transgender woman a reality check, informing him she will never be a woman.
The exchange took place on the BBC’s Question Time program Thursday as a panel discussed the case of Scottish rapist “Isla Bryson,” AKA Adam Graham, who attacked two women before identifying as a transgender female to avoid being sent to a male prison.
“We don’t allow men into female spaces for good reason,” the audience member told the panel, adding, “There are good men and there are predatory men.”
“We should not allow trans into female spaces…” the woman said before being cut off by female transgender panelist India Willoughby, asking, “So you’re casting trans women as men.”
“There are good trans and there are predatory trans and that’s a fact,” the female audience member responded.
“Women have to be safe. Women and children have to be safe,” the woman continued, receiving an applause from the audience.
Asked by Scottish National Party minister Jenny Gilruth whether she made exceptions for trans women who’ve lived like women for a long time and look like women, the audience member replied, “No.”
“How do you know?” the woman asked. “There’s nothing on their head to say they’re predatory or not. The same as a man. How do you know if a man is predatory or not? You don’t know.”
Willoughby followed up: “Would you say that about a lesbian? You would want to check their history? Cause what you just said there, effectively, is that trans women are men and should be treated as men.”
“Well, in my opinion they are men,” the audience member shot back.
“So I would just go into a male jail looking like this?” Willoughby asked.
“Well in my opinion, you can’t change sex. That’s my opinion, you can’t change sex,” the woman told the transgender activist, again eliciting another round of applause.
“You can live your life how you like, and I wish you no harm. But you can’t biologically change sex.”
Willoughby argued, “I’m biological. I’m a woman. I didn’t uh choose to be trans. This is how I was born. All I’ve done is align my body with how I feel.”
The trans activist went on to claim the woman’s point of view was similar to blacks being discriminated against in the 1970s and 80s.
“It’s the same thing as being harassed,” Willoughby claimed.
Willoughby later took to Twitter to slam the woman who confronted her, retweeting a tweet calling the audience member “The Thickest most offensive prejudiced misinformed person in the audience.”
Willoughby, the “world’s 1st trans newsreader” according to his bio, later likened the television appearance to a “lynch mob” and a “hanging.”

Earlier this week Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told the Scottish parliament Bryson was “almost certainly” faking being trans as an “easy way out.”
