‘We’re Going to Put Up the American Flag’: Residents of Muslim-Majority US Town Revolt Against Pride Flag

Parents in the Muslim-majority town of Hamtramck, Michigan, sounded off at a local city council meeting earlier this week explaining they’d rather see the American flag flying at city buildings rather than any gay pride flags.

Video from a town meeting on Tuesday featured a man of Lebanese descent excoriating members of the city council and praising a resolution aiming to ban the flag and other flags.

“We’re going to put up the American flag,” the man said. “That’s what we support. I am a Lebanese person and I support the American flag. We are not going to sit here and tolerate you guys coming and saying, ‘Oh, it’s pride month.’”

“You’re gay, no problem,” he said, adding, “You be gay by yourself.”

“Don’t sit here and throw it down kids throats, my throat or anybody’s throat.”

The man’s passionate defense of Old Glory preceded the passage of a resolution introduced by Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Mohammed Hassan that banned flags at city institutions pertaining to a “religious, ethnic, racial, political, or sexual orientation group.”

“Only, the American flag, and the nations’ flags that represent the international character of our City shall be flown,” Hassan said according to The Post Millennial. He added it’s important to “maintain and confirm the neutrality of the city of Hamtramck towards its residents.”

“The city does not want to open the door for radical or racist groups to ask for their flags to be flown,” he said.

Amid the council meeting, a gay woman showed up wearing a clown nose and read a sarcastic statement mocking the all-Muslim city council and population, before proceeding to kiss a woman.

If Hamtramck sounds familiar, that’s because it was originally held up as a beacon of inclusion and diversity by the mainstream press half a decade ago — that is before the woke LGBT cult had fully sank its claws into the liberal Democrat party.

The media’s love affair with the primarily Muslim town is now at a crossroads as the notoriously anti-LGBT religious group is not only not assimilating to the woke lunacy, but is evidently importing its aversion to all things gay.
