Former President Donald Trump slammed the Biden administration over its Russia-Ukraine debacle, asserting relations with the former Soviet nation were much better under his watch.
In a statement released by the Save America PAC, Trump wrote the tense situation that’s leading to an increase in oil and gas prices could have been avoided had he not been removed from power.
“If properly handled, there was absolutely no reason that the situation currently happening in Ukraine should have happened at all,” Trump opined.

The former president pointed out he had a much better relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin than Joe Biden, and that the entire country is now paying for the sour relationship via high oil and gas prices.
“I know Vladimir Putin very well, and he would have never done during the Trump Administration what he is doing now, no way!” Trump wrote, adding, “Russia has become very very rich during the Biden Administration, with oil prices doubling and soon to be tripling and quadrupling.”
“Now it has begun, oil prices are going higher and higher, and Putin is not only getting what he always wanted, but getting, because of the oil and gas surge, richer and richer,” Trump warned, adding the US was “energy independent” during his presidency.
“Now, what a mess our Country is in!”
The message comes as oil prices surged nearly 5% Tuesday bringing prices to $99 per barrel on fears Russia, a major oil and natural gas producer, could soon invade Ukraine.
Putin, meanwhile, on Monday declared that Ukraine has become a “puppet regime” of Western powers, adding it’s now essentially controlled by NATO and the West, and that a Ukrainian effort to join NATO would constitute a “direct threat to the security of Russia.”
“Ukraine has surrendered its sovereignty to the West. It’s not even a Western protectorate but a colony with a puppet regime,” Putin said during his speech recognizing two Ukraine separatist states in the Donbas region. He added that this culminated with the “coup d’etat of 2014,” referring to the Ukrainian color revolution bankrolled by billionaire George Soros.
