Chicago police are investigating multiple bomb threats downtown near the Democratic National Convention, according to multiple reports.
As of this writing, the Tuesday security scare totaled 14 unique bomb threats, with many being popular hotels packed with DNC workers and attendees.
Police responded with officers and k9 dogs to at least one of the hotels following an email claiming there would be pipe bombs at the buildings, Fox 32 Chicago reported.
“The threat, which was emailed to the Fox 32 Newsroom, said pipe bombs were placed in the Hotel Chicago West Loop and the Hyatt House Chicago in West Loop and the University District,” reports Maggie Duly. “The threat mentioned the Democratic National Convention that is taking place this week on the city’s Near West Side. It also included anti-semitic statements.”
“Fox 32’s Paris Schutz was at Nobu Hotel as officers searched the area. One official said nothing suspicious had been found yet.”
The DNC Day 2 threats are fresh on the heels of Monday’s Pro-Palestine demonstration that saw the arrest of four protestors and a destroyed barricade.
