A male-to-female transgender activist and journalist named Sarah Ashton-Cirillo announced on Wednesday he is joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Cirillo previously made headlines for attempting to infiltrate and expose the Proud Boys leading up to the 2020 presidential election.
“Today I was enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Slava Ukraini,” the radicalized reporter wrote.
Just days earlier, a video of Cirillo went viral as the trans activist discussed his experience covering the aftermath of bloody bombings.
Cirillo described seeing the intestines of a woman who was allegedly killed by a Russian strike, saying, “You understand in that moment what terrorism and what evil is.”
He told a crowd during the event, “As I stood over her intestines, I understood that we here in Ukraine, and across the world, who have souls, and who are not Russians, who are not animals, who are not subhumans could still make humanity out it that. That was still the remains of a mother, of a wife, of a Ukrainian and of a person who loved liberty.”
While Cirillo’s story is disturbing and could invoke sympathy, it’s worth noting the journalist has intentionally ignored covering the dead women and children being bombed in the Donbas or Donetsk region of Ukraine because they are “subhumans” in the minds of Western Ukrainians.
A map of the 2012 electoral map of Ukraine highlights the pro-Russia population in blue, which is the same area in which the Ukrainian military has been targeting civilians for nearly nine years now.
Because the East side of Ukraine is largely pro-Russia and Russian-speaking, many Western Ukrainians have seen them as the enemy since the nation’s 2014 revolution.
This disturbing sentiment is widely accepted in Ukraine as can be seen by a pair of news reports.
In 2014, Ukrainian journalist Bohdan Butkevych openly called for the people of the Donbas region to be “exterminated” for supporting Russia.
Establishment media attempted to claim the video was “edited” and “faked,” but admitted Butkevych was advocating for the murder of Ukrainian citizens with the excuse that he only wanted to kill those who sided with Russia during the 2014 referendum and civil war.
In March, Ukrainian Channel 24 TV presenter Fahruddin Sharafmal embraced Russian Vladimir Putin’s claims that Ukraine is supporting Nazi ideology by quoting Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann.
Sharafmal urged Ukrainians to win the war “By killing children, they will never grow up and the nation will disappear,” adding, “I hope that everyone will contribute and kill at least one Moskal.”
A Moskal is a derogatory term for Russians and the open call for ethnic cleansing is directly in line with Nazi beliefs and propaganda.
There are some indications that Cirillo is an asset of either U.S. intelligence or the Ukrainian government itself.
Besides participating as an “undercover operative” to expose the Proud Boys while posing as a Republican in 2020, the trans journalist is also in contact with and cooperating with the Ukrainian government.
Upon entering Ukraine in March, Cirillo told Forbes Magazine in a June interview he’d applied for Ukrainian Army press credentials.
“So, I put together a very long dossier on myself for the Ukrainian Army to look into, including the fact, obviously, of being trans, my former name, as we refer to it, my deadname, my current name, my current legal name, all my legal documents,” Cirillo explained.
After applying for press credentials, Cirillo sat down for “a 10-minute talk in a coffee shop,” with a Ukrainian official which turned “into an hour” conversation.
“That was a Tuesday. By Friday, I had my credential. I got them in four and a half days, under my name,” he bragged to Forbes.
Basically, the Ukrainian government gave the transgender American a green light to report in the country since he’s pushing left-wing, pro-Ukraine talking points.
Since then, Cirillo has been palling around with the neo-Nazi Azov battalion members.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky even posted one of Cirillo’s reports to his official Instagram page this week.
While several mainstream news reports have exposed Ukraine’s poor treatment of trans people during the war, Cirillo claims he’s treated better in the warring nation than in America.
The American trans man posing as an “unbiased journalist” cannot continue claiming to be unbiased after joining the Ukrainian military.
