Sen. Richard Blumenthal, (D-Conn.) told reporters on Thursday that he believes the American people will be severely upset by the federal government’s handling of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump when the interim report on the shooting is released.

“I think the American people are going to be shocked, astonished and appalled by what we will report to them about the failures by the Secret Service in this assassination attempt on the former president,” Blumenthal said. “But I think they also ought to be appalled and astonished by the failure of the Department of Homeland Security to be more forthcoming, to be as candid and frank, as it should be to them in terms of providing information.”
The senator claimed elected officials are going to get the “whole truth” about what happened in Butler, Pennsylvania, but wouldn’t reveal any details about what they’ve learned so far.
Alex Jones on X suggested the Democrat is just trying to save face following the botched assassination attempt, writing, “This is the definition of rats leaving a sinking ship. They got caught.”
