Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made a shockingly false claim on Twitter Wednesday while attempting to cover her ass for a previous fib.
After it was made public that she made up a story about being in the Capitol Building during the infamous January 6th siege, AOC went into damage control mode.
Despite claiming she thought she was “going to die” and that she had to hide in her bathroom after hearing banging on her door, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), whose office is only two doors down from Cortez’s, said, “Insurrectionists never stormed our hallway.”
Responding to the revelation, AOC wrote on Twitter, “This is the latest manipulative take on the right. They are manipulating the fact that most people don’t know the layout the Capitol complex. We were all on the Capitol complex – the attack wasn’t just on the dome. The bombs Trump supporters planted surrounded our offices too.”
Conservative activist Candace Owens chimed in on Twitter, writing, “This is a dangerous lie and @TwitterSafety should remove it. There were absolutely ZERO bombs planted by ‘Trump supporters’ Pipe bombs were planted outside of both Republican and Democratic Headquarters the night before Trump’s speech—and the FBI has no idea who planted them.”
Owens is right.
Claiming Trump supporters planted bombs in DC on the day of the riots is quite an accusation, and the FBI is still searching for the individual who planted the bombs on the night before the Capitol siege.
There has been no mention of the suspect having any political affiliation whatsoever, but that didn’t stop the young congresswoman from falsely accusing “Trump supporters” of engaging in violent domestic terrorism.
