A California hair salon was raided by police clad in body armor last week after ignoring local COVID-19 lockdown orders.
Armed officials from the Department of Consumer Affairs barged into the Pomp Hair Salon to serve several citations to the husband and wife owners Vicki Kirk and Dino Ballin, who called the experience “humiliating.”
“About five armed state police officers burst into our salon shouting drop everything you’re doing. Stop, you’re being shut down,” Kirk told ABC10.

“It was one of the worst days of my life to have that scene happen in our salon when we are only trying to work,” she added.
Ballin noted the lockdown hypocrisy from big box stores, who can remain open during the renewed lockdown orders.
“Why does a hair salon have to close, but Target can stay open and Walmart can stay open? Where’s the connection? And, what’s the specific infection rate you’re attributing to these salons?” Ballin asked.
“If there were any evidence that we should close, we would close, absolutely. There is virtually zero evidence to support the closure of our industry,” Ballin asserted.
Kirk said the salon, which employs 40 hairstylists, will continue to remain open.
“We just want to keep our homes. We just want to feed our families,” Kirk said.
