Dozens of illegal aliens were apprehended during two human smuggling operations involving tractor-trailers in New Mexico this week, authorities say.
U.S. Border Patrol’s El Paso Sector Chief Anthony Good announced the busts just hours apart, sharing photographs of 36 predominantly male illegal migrants who were being transported in big rigs.
“Lordsburg BP Agents disrupted a semi-truck smuggling scheme apprehending 19 migrants. Thank you Agents for staying vigilant!” Chief Good wrote in a post on X on Thursday.

On Friday, agents with Border Patrol’s Anti-Smuggling Unit in Santa Teresa disrupted another smuggling attempt, capturing 17 illegal migrants who were found inside a semi.

El Paso Sector agents reportedly apprehended 387 illegal migrants during 24 big rig busts in Fiscal Year 2024, which ended on September 30.
