Oklahoma Democrat congressional candidate Abby Broyles is refusing to drop out of the 2022 midterm race after parents accused her of berating a group of tween girls with cruel and racially-charged slurs while heavily intoxicated at a slumber party.
Broyles, a current 5th Congressional District seat candidate and former journalist in Oklahoma City, had attended a Valentine’s Day sleepover hosted by a friend and a group of eight pre-teen girls.
But as the night wore on, Broyles became increasingly intoxicated and belligerent, hurling derogatory slurs at the girls, calling one an “acne fucker”, another a “Hispanic fucker”, and another girl a “judgy fucker.”
At one point, Broyles even vomited into a nearby laundry hamper.
One 12-year-old girl told NonDoc: “We were all sitting around, and she was just going around in a circle saying rude things and would end with ‘F-er’ and saying ‘F-you’ to all of us there — really rude things. My friend has acne, and she had been talking about her acne early in the evening, and then [Broyles] called her an ‘acne F-er,’ and she ran upstairs crying.”
“She was telling me I wasn’t going to be as successful as her,” she added.
A mother of one girl at the sleepover named Sarah Matthews said her daughter described how Broyles became belligerent and cruel as she continued drinking into the night.
@abbybroyles Since it’s been five days and you have neglected to reach out to any of the young ladies (12 & 13 yr olds, including my daughter) you verbally and emotionally abused last weekend, I thought I would give you a chance to try to apologize (at a minimum) here. 1/4

“She proceeded to tell me that Abby Broyles had been at the house and was very drunk and calling them all mfer’s, f’er this f’er that,” Matthews said. “[Broyles] called somebody acne f’er, somebody Hispanic f’er, called my daughter judgey f’er for not wanting to sleep with a blanket that she cleaned up wine with.”
“It was like an attack. Like personal, vicious attacks,” she continued. “You don’t speak to any human that way, let alone a little girl who’s 12 to 13. That can really change how a little girl views herself for the rest of her life.”
The host of the party who invited Broyles and even donated to her 2020 campaign admitted: “Unfortunately it really was as bad as it sounds. She went from zonked out to attacking kids.”
Broyles initially denied the incident even took place, calling it a “political attack.”
“I saw the tweets. I have been out of town on a fundraising trip, and they are awful and offensive and false,” Broyles said. “I mean, I get trolled on Twitter all the time, but I don’t know these women and I don’t know what is behind this, but it’s just not true.”
“I don’t want to talk about — I mean, this is ridiculous that this is becoming a thing. This didn’t happen,” she continued. “I mean, I don’t know. I have no idea. This is — I’m just telling you it’s not true, and if I were a journalist I would not be doing a story, because it’s not a story.”
“I’m running for office. You don’t think this is a political attack? You don’t think this is something they cooked up?” Broyles said.
But after pictures emerged showing she did attend the sleepover while drinking wine, Broyles appeared in a KFOR interview over the weekend to play victim, claiming the host gave her an unknown drug beforehand that interacted badly with the alcohol.
“For years I have struggled with stress and anxiety and insomnia. I took the bar exam on 2 hours of sleep,” she said. “I mean, this is how far this goes back for me. And she knows that. And she gave me a medication I had never taken before. And I had an adverse reaction. Instead of helping me sleep, I hallucinated. And I don’t remember anything until I woke up or came to, and I was throwing up in a hamper.”
“I deeply regret what happened because of the people who it affected. I’ll be okay no matter what happens, but as far as this campaign, I’m never going to stop fighting for Oklahomans, whether it’s in this race or fighting for the cause some other way,” she added.
Just imagine if Broyles was running as a Republican instead of a Democrat.
Broyles hasn’t announced any intention to drop out of the race — because she knows the media and fellow Democrats will simply ignore her disgraceful and racist behavior.
