ESPN reporter Allison Williams announced Friday she’s being forced out of the network after the Disney-owned sports outlet implemented a Covid vaccine mandate that began on Thursday.

Last month, Williams released a statement explaining she is trying to get pregnant and would not be open to taking an experimental mRNA vaccine while attempting to have another child.

Throughout our family planning with our doctor, as well as a fertility specialist, I have decided not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at this time while my husband and I try for our second child. This was a deeply difficult decision to make and it’s not something I take lightly. I understand vaccines have been essential in the effort to end this pandemic; however, taking the vaccine at this time is not in my best interest.

After being denied a “request for accommodation” with ESPN last week, Williams learned she’d be “separated from the company” for refusing to take the vaccine.

Williams thanked everyone who reached out to support her and told her followers, “Belief is a word I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. Because in addition to the medical apprehensions regarding my desire to have another child in regards to receiving this injection, I am also so morally and ethically not aligned with this. And I’ve had to really dig deep and analyze my values and my morals, and ultimately I need to put them first.”

Continuing her emotional message, the sports reporter added, “And the irony in all this is that a lot of those same values and principals I hold dear are what made me a really good employee and probably helped with the success that I’ve been able to have in my career.”

Williams said, “I know I’m not the only one walking away from a career they love, a profession that is a passion, and so many of the people that are in the same situation as me are serving society and benefiting this country in ways I could never do. They are nurses, they are teachers doctors, they are police officers and first responders. They are most importantly our military and they too are pilots. They too are choosing to put their beliefs first and I want you all to know I stand with you.”

“But I also want people to know who support these mandates that I fight for you,” she continued, directing her message to those who disagree with her. “Because, if this is the direction we take our country, there will come a time when the government or corporations mandate you to get something that does not align with your values. Power given is seldom returned. And when that day comes, I want you to at least know that we fought, and we tried.”

The comments are similar to those made by ESPN analyst Sage Steele earlier this month.

Steele even left a comment of encouragement on Williams’ video Saturday, saying, “You are amazing. So much love, respect & prayers coming your way!”

Steele admitted she disagreed with the outlet’s vaccine mandate and didn’t want to take the shot, but ended up reluctantly doing so.

Within a week of getting the jab, Steele caught Covid and was suspended for a week due to her negative comments about ESPN‘s vaccine rule.

America needs thousands of brave individuals like Allison Williams who are willing to sacrifice in order to defend freedom and stay true to their values.
