Election officials in Floyd County, Georgia – where Dominion Voting Systems were used – reported locating over 2,600 additional ballots Monday after a hand recount was ordered in the state.

According to Floyd County Board of Elections chairman Tom Rees, 2,631 more votes were added after a hand recount observed by both parties, accounting for 6.8 percent of the vote in the county.

The missing ballots were from early voting, and not day-of or absentee ballots, reports CoosaValleyNews.com.

The Northwest Georgia News reports Rees gave a tentative count of an additional 1,643 votes for President Donald Trump, 865 for Joe Biden, and 16 for Jo Jorgensen.

Floyd County GOP chairman Luke Martin pondered if the same error could possibly be found in other larger jurisdictions such as Fulton County, home to the highly-populated Democrat stronghold of Atlanta.

“It is scary that this happened in Floyd County.  Imagine what the numbers could look like in places like Fulton County,” Martin reportedly stated.

“It appears that our elections office did not misplace any ballots, rather it appears as if this is a computer software mishap with the Dominion system.”

In a statement to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, however, Martin appeared to walk back his comment, saying, “It’s very concerning… But this doesn’t appear to be a widespread issue. I’m glad the audit revealed it, and it’s important that all votes are counted.”

According to The Coosa Valley News, county election officials report after a barcode scanner on one machine was broken when the votes came in on October 24, they were taken to a second scanner where they were subsequently mis-scanned.

Georgia’s Voting System Implementation Manager Gabriel Sterling told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “The problem occurred because county election officials didn’t upload votes from a memory card in a ballot scanning machine.”

The Northwest Georgia News reports the memory card explanation is “disputed” due to contradicting statements from county officials.

The Coosa Valley News highlights another problem in Floyd County: “It was also reported that several provisional ballots were counted more than once. There should have only been 141 ballots cast but 216 were counted.”

While there were over 1,500 previously undiscovered ballots cast for Trump, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the president may only gain about 800 net votes in the state, where Biden would now lead by 13,200 votes.

On Monday, an elections investigator was dispatched to Floyd County by Georgia’s Secretary of State to find out how the colossal blunder occurred.

From NorthwestGeorgiaNews.com:

[Floyd County Commissioner Scotty Hancock] said elections officials are working with Dominion Voting Systems to determine where the breakdown occurred. They’re waiting for the company to find out who was logged into the computer at the time.

“It was either their rep or our rep. And when we find out who was responsible, we will take action,” Hancock stated.
