A top official at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has voiced his disapproval of “sanctuary jurisdictions” and vows to defy New York Governor Kathy Hochul if she attempts to impede his agency’s mission.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Buffalo Field Office Director Thomas Brophy issued multiple strongly-worded statements this week after two illegal aliens wanted for homicides in their home countries were apprehended in his region.

On Tuesday, ERO Buffalo officers from the Syracuse sub-office captured a 40-year-old illegal alien with an active warrant for homicide in the Dominican Republic.

Two days later, a Brazilian male under deportation orders was caught by ERO Buffalo.

The illegal alien is facing local charges for strangulation and endangering the welfare of a child, and is also under investigation in Brazil for a variety of crimes, including homicide.

“This is the second case in as many days of ERO Buffalo officers arresting a foreign national attempting to outrun his criminal past by illegally entering the United States and continuing to victimize people. These cases highlight the dangers of ‘sanctuary jurisdictions’ and state policies that obstruct law enforcement from cooperating with ERO,” Director Brophy said in a statement released on Friday.

“The men and women of ERO will continue to protect our communities from dangerous offenders, regardless of what the Governor of New York State says, we will not be deterred by politicians putting votes over protecting the citizens of this nation.”

Also this week, an illegal alien from Venezuela was arrested at a ‘migrant hotel’ in the Buffalo suburbs after a young girl was stabbed and two adults were injured during an altercation.

Local authorities confirmed the suspect, Anghely N. Llamozas-Perez, was bussed to the town of Amherst as part of a program launched by New York City to relocate illegal aliens across the state.

In 2017, then-Governor Andrew Cuomo issued Executive Order 170, effectively designating New York a “sanctuary jurisdiction” by prohibiting state officials from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.
