An illegal alien is facing a slew of charges after an elderly man was shot and robbed near a nursing home in Pennsylvania last week, according to reports.
The shocking attack unfolded on November 13 in Pittsburgh.
The victim, a 70-year-old male, was visiting his brother Corner View Nursing and Rehab Center in the Larimer neighborhood of Steel City when he was ambushed by an armed suspect.
Authorities arrived and found the victim lying outside the lobby, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. His wedding band and cash had been stolen, WPXI reported at the time.
Two days later, a suspicious man who only spoke Spanish entered a pawn shop near the scene of the crime and tried to sell the stolen ring.
“With this guy, it was a bad feeling from the start with him,” Sam Askenase, manager of Gelman Loan Co. told WPXI. “On Friday morning, a gentleman came in. Spanish speaking – didn’t speak any English. Had a wedding band, a chain around his neck with the wedding band on it.”
Askenase said he declined to do business with the man after determining the ring likely did not belong to him.
Pittsburgh police quickly arrived at the pawn shop looking for the suspect after tracking his movements via surveillance cameras.
He was apprehended nearby a short time later, still wearing the stolen wedding band on a chain around his neck, according to court documents.
The suspect initially provided a false identity to officers but a Border Patrol agent was able to determine his name is Rawvil Yamil Brito Chirinos, a 25-year-old illegal alien of undisclosed origin.
