An illegal alien is facing murder and kidnapping charges after a man was found dead inside a vehicle in Colorado this week, authorities say.
The disturbing incident unfolded just before 6 a.m. on Monday morning in El Paso County, which encompasses Colorado Springs.
An El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) deputy executed a routine traffic stop after encountering a car stopped in the road.
The deputy observed an unresponsive adult male in the passenger seat and responding emergency personnel attempted unsuccessfully to revive the man, EPSO explained in a press release.
Miguel Ramirez Quiroz, 24, was pronounced deceased by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
EPSO launched a homicide investigation and arrested 29-year-old Miguel Angel Garcia-Hernandez, who was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping, felony menacing and false imprisonment.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has confirmed Garcia-Hernandez is in the U.S. illegally, according to EPSO.
