Toronto Star journo Jennifer Pagliaro made herself the hero of her own story on Tuesday when she harassed a small business owner for opening his restaurant in defiance of Ontario government corona lockdown orders.
Pagliaro’s tweets were remarkably self-righteous even for journo standards:
I’m on my way to Adamson BBQ in Etobicoke where owner Adam Skelly — making false claims about the severity of this pandemic — has vowed to open for inside dining at 11AM. The head of by-law enforcement for the city tells me they are aware of the Instagram post and plan to attend pic.twitter.com/s6FjpjajiE

The comments on that post are a mix of support/vows to line up and critics recommending the very delicious Cherry St. and Beach Hill alternatives/asking to cancel pre-orders

Skelly is here with some other folks I don’t recognize in the parking lot taking selfie’s and shaking bare hands with people. No obvious line yet. Blasting Rage Against the Machine (h/t @carlososorio)

Skelly now screaming at us to get off his property and not stand in a roadway after patrons talked to us about their feelings about tests they think are a lie and the right to eat inside and risk getting sick if they want to pic.twitter.com/FW7WIvmmPq

This guy is now telling us we “lie through our teeth on a regular basis” and yelling about other things. Few of the patrons waiting in parking lot are wearing masks https://t.co/4pu7e1Pw9f

I count about two dozen people who appear to be here to eat. Picnic tables set up pic.twitter.com/VBcyGzCyUN

No sign of enforcement yet as we hit 11AM. There are now two toddlers here. Skelly is letting people in without masks. He himself is not wearing a mask.
— Jennifer Pagliaro (@jpags) November 24, 2020
“There are now people eating inside, in direct violation of provincial orders,” Pagliaro tweeted.

Officers have now entered the restaurant pic.twitter.com/iSD1gLzMOW

Pagliaro wanted everyone to know she’s risking life and limb to cover this story, saying: “For obvious reasons I’m not going inside with a bunch of unmasked people who don’t believe in a pandemic…”
Can see Skelly speaking with enforcement now but can’t hear what they’re saying. Skelly appears agitated. Patrons recording interaction on their phones

Again, this restaurant is illegally allowing indoor dining and breaking city orders around mask wearing

Police inspector Crone tells us the investigation is ongoing and health and bylaw officialsno longer on scene. Says given number of people and circumstances not going to clear this crowd now. Doors are not being closed. Discouraged similar “unlawful” activity

I’m heading home to write. Police made it clear there will be no charges or fines here today.

Adam Skelly was eventually forced to shut his restaurant down.
It’s official. Adamson BBQ in Etobicoke has been shut down by Toronto’s medical officer of health after welcoming dozens of people to sit down and eat inside the restaurant earlier today. @CityNews pic.twitter.com/3HZvjMfr2L

Folks were not impressed.
So, at any point during the pandemic has Jennifer’s paycheck been at risk? Has she just been able to work from home the whole time?
Just sayin’.
— ArmaliteAR-180 (@armalitear) November 24, 2020
Exactly. Notice how the majority of lockdown supporters face no real consequences – they can work from home and live in their sterile little bubbles while true working class people around them lose everything to an overblown virus…

Here’s Pagliaro in 2018 describing her heroic work:
In fairness to her, extreme obesity does put one at increased risk from the coronavirus.
Nonetheless, the death rate from coronavirus in Canada is estimated to be around 1 in 300,000.
According to CTV News, 98.4% of deaths were in nursing homes.
CTV News has reported that out of 10,947 Covid-19 deaths in Canada, 10,781 (98.4%) were in Long Term Care homes.
Cancelling children’s hockey and shutting down small businesses is not the answer. Directing massive resources into LTC is the answer. pic.twitter.com/cZxL72TouC

Premier Doug Ford, who was elected by conservatives, threw Skelly under the bus and backed the hysterical shutdown effort.
From National Post:
Premier Doug Ford said Tuesday he was aware of the issue, which had split opinion on social media.
“They have to follow the rules,” Ford said of Adamson Barbecue. “There can’t be rules for one group and not the other … If we let everyone open we’re going to be in worse shape.”
But still, Ford said he felt sorry for the business and others facing the nightmare of closing their doors yet again.
“I can’t get angry at any businessperson right now, they’re hurting,” he said.
Wow, how gracious of you!
You should be angry over this tyrannical lockdown effort and this virus being shamelessly exploited to bring about “The Great Reset.”
#Canada‘s @JustinTrudeau is repeating @WEF script verbatim, admitting that govt’s are ‘using the pandemic’ and #lockdown in order to enact their #GreatReset, like #BorisJohnson and #Biden, Trudeau is using #Davos‘s #BuildBackBetter marketing slogan.

Though Ford said that “there can’t be rules for one group and not the other,” Black Lives Matter were allowed to stage large protests in Ontario earlier this year over the death of George Floyd (which happened in America):
