A new poll shows that Donald Trump holds a commanding lead over Kamala Harris in North Carolina, a key state the Democrats are trying to flip from red to blue.
His lead of three points is higher than the margin by which he won the state in 2020.
Trump is also performing well among key demographics in the state. He has a 10% lead among independent voters, and 61% of white voters and 43% of Hispanics say they’ll vote for him.
According to American Greatness, which commissioned the poll, “On issues, the economy and immigration remain, by far, the top two issues on voters’ minds. 56% of voters there say they were ‘better off’ when Trump was in office vs. 34% who say they are better off now. On securing the border, the 45th president earns a large +22% advantage, 57-35% over Harris. On national security, voters trust Trump more, 51-40% over Harris.”
Another poll, commissioned by Quantus after the presidential debate, showed Trump with a 1.7% margin over Harris in North Carolina. Again, this is larger than the 1.34% margin Trump had over Biden in 2020 in the state.
North Carolina turned blue in 2008, when Barack Obama was elected, but since then it has remained red.
Kamala Harris was in the state on Thursday, where she flaunted the endorsement of “200 Republicans who have formally worked with President Bush, Mitt Romney, and John McCain including the endorsement of former Vice President Dick Cheney and Congressmember Liz Cheney.”
