Ninety-seven percent of all the illegal immigrants deported by Donald Trump had removal orders from the Biden administration, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Since President Trump took office on 20 January, there have been at least 5,573 arrests of immigrants in the country illegally.
Levitt briefed the press on the figures on Friday, and provided details of the backgrounds of those arrested.
Arrestees included a Guatemalan wanted for solicitation of a minor. The man was arrested in Chicago.
In New York, the agency arrested “a Mexican national previously charged by the state of New York for attempted murder and possession of a weapon and assault,” she said.
“If you are a criminal illegal alien, you will be arrested and deported,” she added.
During the briefing, Leavitt also had choice words for mayors who refuse to cooperate with ICE, such as Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson.
Leavitt said “they would be very wise to comply with this administration because this administration is hellbent on enforcing our nation’s immigration laws and this administration will continue to arrest and detain and deport illegal migrant criminals.
“And what we won’t do is defy our nation’s immigration laws like the previous administration who had these orders of removal on illegal immigrants across the country and were refusing to execute them.”
