One Dallas, Texas, police officer was killed and two others were injured by a suspect who ambushed the first policeman and got into a firefight with the other two.
The suspect was also killed in the shootout after taking officers on a lengthy chase.
Dallas Police officers responding to a distress call found an officer “shot in a marked squad car” and “exchanged gunfire with a suspect at the scene,” according to law enforcement investigators.
The two responding officers were both shot by the suspect who continued to flee in a vehicle, taking police on a 25-mile chase until he exited the vehicle with a long gun in the middle of Interstate 35 and was shot by officers.
“A suspect sped from the scene, and officers pursued the suspect which ended in Lewisville in the 1000 block of Stemmons Freeway,” the department explained. “The preliminary investigation determined the suspect got out of the vehicle with a long gun and was shot by Dallas Police officers and he died at the scene.”
WFAA news reporter Matt Howerton posted social media photos of the alleged suspect on X Friday.
Howerton claimed suspect Corey Cobb Bey’s Facebook page contained a video of him approaching police officers and questioning their presence.
