Popular liberal streamer Destiny, real name Steven Bonnell, posted a sick joke on social media in the aftermath of Saturday’s attempt on Donald Trump’s life.
“If we learned anything today, I hope it’s realizing the importance of principles I’ve stressed many times on stream before: having a firearm means absolutely nothing if you don’t spend time at the range practicing with it,” Bonnell posted on Twitter.
At time of writing, the Tweet had received over a million views and thousands of likes, retweets and comments.
Almost all of the responses were negative, with users mocking Destiny for his skinnyfat body and his well-publicised cuckold relationship with his now ex-wife.
“Yeah, unlike everyone who shot their shot with your wife while y’all were married, the assassin missed… tough times bro,” responded one user.
Other users noted that the Tweet reveals a more sinister truth about many so-called liberals: that despite proclaiming themselves paragons of virtue—of peace, tolerance and understanding—they in fact revel in the thought of murdering their enemies, whether that’s Donald Trump himself or simply their Trump-supporting neighbors.
“These people want to kill you. Whether you want to be involved with politics or not, you are. I don’t have a punchline or pithy comment. Just know and understand this,” was one such Tweet.
Users are suggesting Destiny’s tweet is an actionable statement encouraging political violence and should be reported not only to Twitter authorities but also to law enforcement.
Bonnell was a carpet cleaner before he became a full-time videogame streamer in 2011. In 2016, he began streaming political debates with other online figures. He has described himself as a “very big social democrat.”
