Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) announced her 21st Century FREE Speech Act Thursday, and urged new Twitter owner Elon Musk to sit down for a roundtable discussion with Alex Jones and other prominent figures that were unjustly silenced on the platform.
“I am cautiously optimistic about the prospects for Twitter now that Elon Musk has taken over,” Rep. Greene told reporters outside Congress.
“I don’t know Mr. Musk, but I do invite him to come talk with me in Washington DC. I’d be happy to put together a roundtable of all the most brilliant people who have been unjustly banned from Twitter and he can see for himself the urgent necessity of doing right by them, which we all hope he will as he has stated that he believes in free speech.”
Rep. Greene explained Big Tech social media platforms need to be reined in after repeated abuses of Americans’ right to free speech.
“As a country we need to re renegotiate our relationship with Twitter and Mark Zuckerberg and to remind them of their civic duties. We need to protect America and Americans from abuses and overreach by a few powerful big tech giants. That’s why I’ve introduced my 21st Century FREE Speech Act.”
Rep. Greene later mentioned Infowars host Alex Jones and controversial conservative figure Milo Yiannopoulos as two people she’d invite to the roundtable discussion.
“There’d be a lot of people I’d love to invite to this roundtable,” she told a reporter. “I see someone standing behind you right there, Milo Yiannopoulos, I think he’d be a great person to have there. Alex Jones would be another person,” Rep. Greene stated.
“We’ll put together a great list of people who have been just almost deleted from public life due to this type of censorship and I think Elon Musk will enjoy talking with them.”
Jones’ name has been floated as one possible person whose account could be reinstated in the wake of Musk’s Twitter buyout.
Rep. Greene’s bill seeks “To repeal section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934 and ensure reasonable, non-discriminatory access to online communications platforms.”

“For too long Big Tech oligarchs in Silicon Valley have silenced patriotic Americans simply speaking the truth,” Rep. Greene said in a press release. “The unholy union of the Silicon Valley Cartel and Communist Democrats must finally be broken. Our country needs more freedom of speech and more information not less of it. Big Tech’s tyrannical control over the public square must be stopped and the right to speak must be restored.”
Rep. Greene’s account was suspended last January after Twitter claimed she violated its policy regarding “misleading information” after she posted her opinion that vaccines and masks shouldn’t be mandated by the federal government.
It remains to be seen whether the new Twitter boss will accept Rep Greene’s offer.
