The two most powerful Republicans in Congress joined the Democrats to commemorate the Capitol Police for preventing the so-called “insurrection” on January 6, 2021.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) presented Congressional Gold Medals to the Capitol Police and thanked them for their “sacrifice.”
“Today we pay tribute to their service and sacrifice on January 6th. These brave men and women stood strong in the line of duty for our country, and we’re forever grateful,” McCarthy said Tuesday at the Capitol building.

McConnell also offered sycophantic praise to the Capitol Police.
“Because of your bravery and professionalism, Congress finished our job that very night…Thank you for having our backs. Thank you for saving our country. Thank you for being not just our friends, but our heroes,” he remarked.

Despite the top Republicans falling in line behind Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and the Democrat narrative that the Capitol riot was an “insurrection,” they were still publicly humiliated after several police officers refused to shake their hands upon receiving medals from them.
It’s almost like appeasing the left gets Republicans nowhere.

Ken Sicknick, the brother of Officer Brian Sicknick, who the media falsely claimed was murdered by protesters, explained he refused to shake McCarthy and McConnell’s hands because they criticized the Jan. 6 committee.
“Unlike Liz Cheney, they have no idea what integrity is. They can’t stand up for what’s right and wrong. With them, it’s party first,” Sicknick said.

It was later revealed that Officer Sicknick died a day after the protest as a result of two strokes.
No officers died as a result of Jan. 6.
As has been revealed, Jan. 6 was not an insurrection, but a massive protest against the fraudulent 2020 election results that went sideways and resulted in a riot involving a couple hundred people inside the Capitol building.
Subsequent reporting claimed the riot was influenced by FBI informants and assets, including Ray Epps, who is the only person caught on video actively encouraging people before and during the protest to storm the Capitol building. He was never arrested.
New York Times reporter Matthew Rosenberg even admitted in undercover video earlier this year that the Jan. 6 riot was “overblown” and not an insurrection.
One Twitter user pointed out that thousands of police officers were injured during the 2020 BLM riots, yet no Democrats or Republicans held a ceremony to honor those officers — because it doesn’t advance the narrative.
“During the 2020 BLM riots, a 29-year-old police officer named Shay Mikalonis became a quadriplegic after he was shot in the head during a riot in Las Vegas. More than 2,000 officers were injured during the summer of love. When is their Congressional Gold Medial ceremony?”
