During testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark) went on a fiery rant aimed at Attorney General Merrick Garland.
‘Thank God you are not on the Supreme Court,” said in a moment that quickly went viral online. “You should resign in disgrace.”
Cotton began his questioning of Garland by asking about a recent DOJ directive calling for the full force of the federal government to be deployed against American parents who are showing up to local school board meetings to express their concerns.
The DOJ issued a memo on the subject after the National School Boards Association (NSBA) equated the angry parents to “domestic terrorists,” which it later apologized for.
However, after trying to backtrack, it was revealed that NSBA leaders failed to consult their own board members and were instead talking to White House officials leading up to the release of the letter.
Senator Cotton also asked the AG about a Loudon County parent who was made the poster boy for “domestic terrorist” parents by Democrat politicians and mainstream media pundits.
The parent, who was arrested at a school board meeting for shouting, ended up being upset that his daughter was molested by a transgender student on her school’s campus.
“This memorandum is not about parents being able to object in their school boards,” Garland argued. “They are protected by the First Amendment, as long as there are no threats of violence, they are completely protected. So parents can object to their school boards, about curriculum, about the treatment of their children, about school policies, all of that is 100 percent protected by the First Amendment and there is nothing in this memorandum contrary to that. We are only trying to prevent violence against school officials.”
Cotton responded, “Even in that case, what is the National Security Division… these are the people who are supposed to be chasing Jihadists and Chinese spies. What does the National Security Division have to do with parents at school boards?”
Other GOP representatives also tore into Garland.
Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) told the Attorney General, “You have weaponized the FBI and the Department of Justice, and I call on you to resign!”
Hawley specifically grilled Garland over DOJ prosecutors threatening parents with thirteen different federal crimes related to their school board protests.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) accused AG Garland of engaging in communist tactics that put a chilling effect on parents wishing to speak out.
“That is a poisonous, chilling effect,” Grassley said. “This kind of looks like something that would come out of a communist country.”
The federal government is blatantly defying the U.S. Constitution and We The People have been declared the enemy of the globalist elite.
