Authorities are working to identify suspects who vandalized a restaurant in New York City over the weekend, according to reports.
The disturbing incident unfolded at around 8:15 p.m. on Saturday night in the College Point neighborhood of Queens.
Workers and diners were shocked when a group described as a ‘rowdy wolfpack’ by local media stormed Fish Village and inflicted widespread destruction at the Chinese eatery.
Footage has been circulating on social media platforms.
“This video is going viral on WeChat. Fish Village, a restaurant in College Point, Qns was ransacked by a gang of masked kids in hoodies,” Asian Wave Alliance President Yiatin Chu wrote on Twitter.
“We’ve fallen so low that there’s no expectation of consequences for this horrific attack on private property.”
Suspects wearing hooded clothing and face masks smashed furniture, flipped tables, and broke various objects and a large window during the spree.
Police estimated the damage at around $20,000.
Restaurant employees say they don’t know what prompted the mob attack but are worried about deteriorating conditions in the city.
“Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa called the rowdy bunch ‘a wolfpack’ and said his community-watch crew would step in and patrol the eatery,” the New York Post reports.
Sliwa asserts New York City is “out of control.”
“Nothing is going to happen to [the criminals]. They will be charged as juveniles and be back out on the street. Their friends will see the video, and they will be treated as heroes in the ‘hood,” he said.
No arrests have been made at the time of this writing, according to the latest available updates.
