Spain announced it will draft a registry for individuals who refuse to take the COVID-19 vaccine and share that information with EU member states.
Spain’s Health Minister Salvador Illa said Monday in an interview with La Sexta television that the list will not be public and the vaccine would not be mandatory.
“What will be done is a registry, which will be shared with our European partners… of those people who have been offered it and have simply rejected it,” Illa said.
“It is not a document which will be made public and it will be done with the utmost respect for data protection,” he added.
Illa did not elaborate why Spain was creating a COVID dissident list if the vaccine would not be mandatory.
The government reportedly expects to vaccinate 15-20 million people of its population of 47 million by June.
“The way to defeat the virus is to vaccinate all of us or the more the better,” Illa said.
The stunning announcement by the Spanish government tracks with several airline companies who suggested that people who refuse to take the COVID vaccine will be barred from traveling.
Though governments may not mandate the vaccine, companies have indicated they will deny those who refuse the vaccine access to their products or services, all but removing their freedom of choice.
And governments making and sharing a secret list of people who don’t abide by their medical tyranny is certainly a recipe for disaster reminiscent of the Soviet Union.
