President Trump had choice words for a federal judge who issued an injunction to prevent eight “hardened thugs” from being deported to Sudan.
On Wednesday, Biden-appointee District Judge Brian Murphy ruled that eight foreign nationals on their way to Sudan must not proceed on to their final destination, but must be given “reasonable fear” interviews in private and access to counsel, as if they were still in the United States.
The judge also ordered the Trump admin to provide regular weekly updates to the court about the status of the men.
The eight men include Enrique Arias-Hierro, who was convicted of homicide and armed robbery; Thongxay Nilakout, who murdered a German tourist visiting her family in Los Angeles; Dian Peter Domach, a member of a criminal gang that committed armed robberies in Nebraska; and pedophile Kyaw Mya.
In his response to the order, President Trump slammed the judge and said the will of the American people is being subverted by radical judges who are “absolutely out of control.”
“A Federal Judge in Boston, who knew absolutely nothing about the situation, or anything else, has ordered that EIGHT of the most violent criminals on Earth curtail their journey to South Sudan, and instead remain in Djibouti,” President Trump wrote on his social-media platform Truth Social.
“He would not allow these monsters to proceed to their final destination. This is not the premise under which I was elected President, which was to PROTECT our Nation. The Judges are absolutely out of control, they’re hurting our Country, and they know nothing about particular situations, or what they are doing — And this must change, IMMEDIATELY! Hopefully, the Supreme Court of the United States will put an END to the quagmire that has been caused by the Radical Left. If this is not worked out quickly, and the World is watching, our Country will be under siege again, with hundreds of thousands of hardened criminals, ‘BREAKING DOWN THE WALLS.’”
President Trump also noted that “a large number of ICE officers” had been forced to remain in Djibouti with the criminals and “would otherwise be in the United States, protecting our Citizens.”
The Trump administration’s agenda has been significantly hampered by the judiciary, especially via the use of so-called “nationwide injunctions,” rulings by federal judges that have a nationwide effect beyond individual cases.
Between 20 January 2025 and 29 April 2025, there were at least 25 nationwide injunctions issued against the Trump administration. By contrast, just 12 were issued during the presidencies of George W. Bush and 19 during those of Barack Obama. There were 64 during the first Trump presidency.
