Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) was called out on The View for peddling the debunked Russia collusion hoax after it was revealed the sources of the so-called Steele Dossier were indicted for lying to the government.
Schiff joined the show Tuesday with former State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus as the guest host, who lobbed real journalistic questions at Schiff over his role in perpetuating the Russia hoax.
“I want to ask you about something that’s in the news a lot right now. You’ve been really prolific, over the last few years, being the head of the intel committee. You’ve defended, promoted, you even ran into the Congressional Record, the Steele Dossier,” Ortagus told Schiff.

“We know last that the main source of the Dossier was indicted by the FBI for lying about most of the key claims in that Dossier. Do you have any reflections on your role in promoting that to the American people?”
Schiff tried deflecting to former President Donald Trump, who pardoned Roger Stone and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn after they were targeted by the bogus Democrat-led Russia witch hunt.
“Well, first of all, whoever lied to the FBI or lied to Christopher Steele should be prosecuted. And they are,” Schiff said. “Unlike in the Trump administration, if they’re convicted, they should go to jail, not be pardoned. Donald Trump pardoned Roger Stone for lying, he pardoned Michael Flynn for lying. If people lie to the FBI, they should go to jail.”
Schiff insisted Democrat investigators “couldn’t have known” the Steele dossier sources were lying about Trump’s involvement with Russia.
“But at the beginning of the Russian investigation, I said that any allegations should be investigated. We couldn’t have known, for example, that people were lying to Christopher Steele. So it was proper to investigate them. And let’s know forget what we learned in that investigation. We learned that the campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, was giving internal polling data to Russian intelligence while Russian intelligence was helping the Trump campaign.”
Ortagus noted: “To be clear, he was fired halfway through the campaign.”
“Well, he may have been fired, but the effort to get Russian help continued,” Schiff shot back. “Even beyond the Russian help, the president sought to get—”
Ortagus interrupted, pointing out Schiff held spread the false Russia narrative “for years.”
“That’s what Republicans, and what people who entrusted you as the committee chair, are so confused about your culpability in all of this,” she noted.
Schiff insisted it was “impossible” to know if the Steele dossier sources were telling the truth.
“Well, I completely disagree with your premise,” Schiff snapped. “It’s one thing to say the allegations should be investigated, and they were. It’s another to say that we should have foreseen in advance that some people were lying to Christopher Steele — which is impossible, of course, to do.”
Schiff then told Ortagus not use Durham’s indictments as a “smoke screen” to shield Donald Trump, claiming Trump’s “serious misconduct” can’t be “diminished” by the fact that Christopher Steele’s sources lied.
“No,” Ortagus said. “I think just your credibility is.”
“Well, I think the credibility of your question is in doubt,” Schiff said.
Remember, Schiff had been claiming for years that he has seen “ample evidence” that Trump colluded with the Russian government despite a two-year investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller turning up nothing.
