Biden “border czar” Kamala Harris on Friday finally made a trip to Texas, where she was immediately confronted by reporters asking what took so long.
In footage from the tarmac in El Paso, Harris once again stumbled as she struggled to answer why now was the right time to visit.
“How did you decide that right now was the right time to make your first trip to the border?” a reporter asked.
“Well, it’s not my first trip; I’ve been to the border many times,” she attempted to counter, forcing the reporter to clarify he meant it’s her first visit as border czar.
“I said back in March I was gonna come to the border, so this is not a new plan,” Harris claimed during her response, after which she quickly slinked off.
Her scattered deer-in-headlights response was reminiscent of her previous run-ins with the media, where she scrambled to come up with excuses for her absence on the scene.
Later, during a press conference, Harris proceeded to blame the Trump administration for the border crisis the new administration “inherited.”
Many, including President Donald Trump, observed Harris’ visit was only announced after he declared he’d take up Texas Governor Greg Abbott on his offer to come to Texas.
“After months of ignoring the crisis at the Southern Border, it is great that we got Kamala Harris to finally go and see the tremendous destruction and death that they’ve created—a direct result of Biden ending my very tough but fair Border policies,” Trump explained in a statement delivered through his Save America PAC.
Trump continued, “Harris and Biden were given the strongest Border in American history. And now, it is by far the worst in American history. If Governor Abbott and I weren’t going there next week, she would have never gone!”
The trip also brought criticism that Harris was visiting the wrong border, with many pointing out the most affected region of the crisis is happening 1,000 miles away in Deep South Texas at the Rio Grande Valley.
