A young Italian man was murdered in a brutal knife attack after a fight broke out between two groups of young people outside a club. The battle, between Italian-Romanians versus North Africans, took place in the quiet town of Castelfranc Veneto, a province of Treviso.
The young victim, 20-year-old Lorenzo Cristea, who was born in Romania, lost his life after arriving in the hospital despite attempts by medical staff to revive him. He came to the hospital on his own but the stab wounds were too deep to save his life.
Two young Tunisian suspects are currently under arrest and seven others were detained following the death of Cristea.
The entire town and region is in disbelief after the brutal murder, with the parents, Vasile and Joana, speaking with La Tribuna about the murder.

“They told me it was an ambush,” said Vasile, who had just returned from the morgue of the Castelfranco hospital when he spoke with La Tribuna. “The attackers used a 20cm long blade. It was the one that killed my son.”
“You didn’t have to do it. You can’t go out with a knife in your pocket. We are immersed in pain.
Our son will never return,” said the mother.
The whole group of teens ambushed
In addition, another person was injured, a 22-year-old, a friend of Cristea, also arrived at the emergency room with severe wounds to his chest and abdomen. He is currently struggling between life and death after losing a severe amount of blood.
Two other young people, aged 18 and 19, also from Castelfranco, suffered minor injuries. All the victims have Italian nationality with families of Romanian origin, and all have families that have been residing in the Veneto region for decades, according to Il Giornale.
Investigators are still trying to determine what sparked the fight, but according to the first reports, the fight began between two of the Italian-Romanian friends and two North Africans inside the Baita al Lago club. When security intervened and forced them all outside, the two North Africans allegedly provoked the group. At some point, the Italians were reportedly “ambushed” by the Tunisians, who were armed with knives.
An ambulance was called by the club manager, but the young victims tried to reach the hospital by themselves.
The two Tunisians are in police custody and have been charged with attempted murder, murder, assault, and possession of illegal weapons. The police also allegedly have access to security footage in the area.
