An illegal alien from Haiti who was released into the U.S. by Border Patrol has been arrested for a second time on a slew of weapon and drug charges and is now in federal custody, authorities say.

On Wednesday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the recent apprehension of Gasnoy Saintilme in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Saintilme was caught by Border Patrol after illegally entering the country at an unspecified location on February 12, 2023.

He was issued a notice to appear before a DOJ immigration judge in the future and released into the interior on the same day.

Saintilme was later arrested in Worcester on March 7, 2024, and after being charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws, he was quickly released on recognizance by Worcester District Court.

The Haitian was arrested again just weeks later on April 18 and charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, Class B possession with intent to manufacture, and Class B substance distribution.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston lodged a detainer against Saintilme the following day.

“The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office notified ERO Boston that Saintilme was scheduled to post bail. Later that day, Saintilme posted cash bail Aug 26. Upon his posting bail, Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies transferred custody of Saintilme to officers from ERO Boston honoring the ICE detainer,” ICE explained in a press release.

Limited information about Saintilme has been made public, but sources tell NewsNation correspondent Ali Bradley that he is in his late teens or early 20s.

Saintilme remains in ERO custody at this time.

Authorities continue to catch dangerous foreign criminals illegally present in the U.S., many of whom have been previously released into the country by law enforcement agencies.
