On Sunday Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov about ending the Ukraine war following Kiev’s massive drone strike that targeted Moscow’s nuclear bomber fleet. The attack, launched just days before peace talks in Turkey, came as a surprise to President Donald Trump who was not informed of the operation beforehand.
“[Rubio] reiterated President Trump’s call for continued direct talks between Russia and Ukraine to achieve a lasting peace,” State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said.
Moscow also confirmed the call was in regard to bringing an end to the war.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated the officials “exchanged views on various initiatives concerning the political resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.”
“[Rubio] expressed sincere condolences on the civilian casualties resulting from the bombings of railway infrastructure in the Bryansk and Kursk regions on June 1,” according to Russia’s Foreign Ministry.
President Donald Trump was not informed about Kiev’s strikes beforehand.
“President Trump was not informed of a recent Ukrainian attack on Russia,” NewsNation said Sunday. “An administration official told NewsNation’s Tanya Noury that the president was not given a heads-up about the drone attack that a Ukrainian security official alleged destroyed more than 40 planes well within Russian territory, according to The Associated Press.”
Notably, Senators Richard Blumenthal and Lindsey Graham met with Ukraine’s Dictator Vladimir Zelensky on Friday, just days before the massive drone strike.
Lindsey Graham has officially arrived in Ukraine to meet with President Zelensky, whom he once called "the ally I’ve been hoping for all my life."

Ukraine has stepped up its military kidnapping. According to Ukrainian lawmaker Yury Kamelchuk, Kiev ordered its conscription officers to abduct 12 men a day.
”If they were treated respectfully from the start, the result would have been different,” he said. “I was told that today they catch pretty much everyone, regardless of health.”
Infowars previously reported how Ukraine does not discriminate, going so far as to draft the retarded.
Kiev uses deceptive tactics to abduct the men.
“One method they use all the time is ordering food delivery and capturing the courier,” the lawmaker said.
U.K. Defense Secretary John Healey said that his country must prepare for a direct conflict with Russia. Germany is on the same track, promising Ukraine missiles and gifting it military aid money.
“This is a message to Moscow as well. This is Britain standing firm – not only strengthening our Armed Forces, but also reinforcing our industrial base. It’s part of our readiness to fight, if required,” Healey said.
