In 2022 Ukranian Leader Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree banning the Kiev government from any negotiations with Moscow. The legislation remains in force. On Monday Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked by RIA-Novosti if there are currently any prerequisites for ending the Ukraine conflict.
“No,” Peskov said.
“He had reiterated last week that Russia ‘remains open to talks’ to end the hostilities. ‘However, since there has been no progress in terms of Ukraine’s readiness for negotiations, we are continuing with our [military] operation,’ Peskov stressed,” RT said Monday.
Interestingly, on December 19 Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there is indeed a condition for Russia to hold peace talks with Ukraine, that Zelensky hold elections. On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that a ceasefire with Ukraine is ‘a path to nowhere’ but welcomed possible Donald Trump negotiations on the matter. Lavrov said that the negotiations must be initiated by the West. Trump said he will end the war via negotiations.
Interestingly, Zelensky has reportedly abandoned his ‘victory plan‘ which consisted of NATO membership, de-facto war with Russia and potentially nuclear weapons.
“However, the Ukrainian leader has recently abandoned his talk of ‘victory,’ claiming instead that he wants a ‘just peace,’ coupled with security guarantees from the West in the form of NATO membership, with the status of the new Russian regions undetermined,” RT said Monday.
Zelensky has been pandering for money in an ongoing act for years now, money that has been pouring in by the hundreds of billions of dollars and is still being given to this very day.
